The neighborhood is adjacent to the chain of lakes (Lake of the Isles, Lake Calhoun, and Lake Harriet), which are part of the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway.

The City Of Minneapolis is currently looking at the development of the Uptown area and has created an Uptown Small Area Plan.
