History of the Wilhite Condo
Located in the Uptown area of Minneapolis, Minnesota, the Wilhite Condo was built in 1923, as apartments for downtown commuters.

The building has been owned by its residents since 1948, when it was purchased as a Co-op. In 1968, the residents reorganized, creating the first condominium in the region: #0001.

Since being purchased by residents, the building has been self-governed. In the last year, the owners voted-in new governing documents, bringing them up to date and insuring compliance with current condominium laws.

The building has a history of being well-maintained by the residents. Major projects over the years include:

  • Building re-wired in 1977
  • Security doors replaced in 1986
  • Exterior brick repointed in 1989
  • Roof completely redone in 1990
  • Exterior window frames painted in 1998
  • Community-owned apartments renovated in 1999
  • Gas boiler replaced in 2001
  • New Mail Station in 2004
  • Common area windows replaced in 2005
  • Building fire alarm system updated in 2006
  • Rewrote organizational documents in 2006
